MM is late

Well its not quite Monday, and I didn't get to post my LO yesterday. So I thought better late then never. One of my all time favorite movies is Now & Then (1995) You should check it out, Demi Moore narrates this fun movie about 4 girls growing up and all that they go through, I believe in '72. It's just a cute movie! Here's a bonus with this post, I put it with a challenge this week over at Design Dollies. Write at'cha later!

Monday already?

So where did my weekend go? It's Monday already and I haven't a clue how it came along so fast. I didn't even create a Movie Monday LO. I still have time after work, I already have the movie picked out. After dinner I will rise to my very own challenge.

My weekend was what I would call a perfect weekend. Did some of my favorite things (except scrapbooking, what the...?), tried some new stuff too. Last year at some point I said that I would like to try and do new things, and not be afraid or embarassed by what I may look like.

So in April I went to Key West and did parasailing. Weeeeeee! That was awesome, I am not into anything adventure. I was so proud of myself for doing this, and some may say really, you think that's adventureous? Yes, my family doesn't do stuff like that or anything really. So yes it was BIG time for me.

Anyways, on Saturday I went w/ a friend of mine to try out yoga. I always felt like I'd look weird doing it. Loved it! I'm so glad that I did it and that I liked it. It is a non-profit organization so you donate what you'd like each visit. So not only am I going to be working my way to a better fit me, I am helping create peace in this world. The place was very earthy and the studio that we were in was w/out lights; the only hint of light we saw was through the bamboo window treatments. Very relaxing and look forward to next weekend so that I can go again. So another something to try scratched off my list!!!!

I was lazy most of the weekend. My sister's son came to spend the night on Saturday and the boys had a blast. I watched Back to the Future all weekend long. They had each movie on each evening. Love those movies. I took my son to see Cats & Dogs: Revenge of Kitty Galore. Cute, my son was so well behaved all weekend, I thought I would treat him to that. Plus, I wanted to have some popcorn. The work week is a long week until my next weigh in at WW. Love going and I and looking forward to some good results this Thursday. I did 10 minute thighs & buns this morning too. What's 10 minutes? Right on it worked me good. I can take the time to that each morning. Whatever helps me get healthy. Well I've written enough its all starting to blend together.

I will post later my MM LO. Have a great day!

Flashback Friday!

Welcome back to FF, I am happy to share this layout with all of you today. I am into the whole family history stuff, some people could care less. Curious I am! I did this page at a weekender up north a couple of years ago. I love the heart details, not even sure where I got the twine I don't have any on hand, and I don't normally work with it. The black page refills that Creative Memories has are awesome. It gives such a different look to layouts. I just love what this page shows. The only thing missing, odd as this is.....a photograph of my parents. Really? That should have been the easier of the 3 pics to come across. So with this flashback I realize there are times a layout isn't quite complete. It may need a title, or journaling but in this case its missing a photograph. I have many pics of my parents but I want a groovy one from the late 60's or 70's. I think I may work on that this weekend. As soon as I get a photo I will re-post.

I just love this layout! Vintage is awesome!

My mom's parents, I can only remember meeting my grandfather once, my grandmother sweet lady came to visit as often as she could from Seattle. If she came all the way to Michigan it was usually for 2-3 months at a time.

My great grandparents from Denmark, my grandmothers parents. Such a fascinating story of how they came over to America. I will have to share sometime.

My unpictured parents, a gorgeous couple, I will get a photo of them, and soon! I miss my father, he past 9 years ago this month.

Movie Monday

Whew! I made it.....I almost didn't make a movie LO. I did manage after dinner, cleaning, and then going grocery shopping to create this page. I love the colors! So yea its posted during the last hour of Monday but I still did it. Alot of the reason I wanted to do MM was too keep up on scrapbooking and be able to use old photos that have been boxed up. A sweet face like that shouldn't be left in a box.

Well it's off to lala land, have a great week everyone!

Flashback Fridays (FF)

Oh this has to be one of the ugliest pages I've ever done. This LO was done I'd guess about 6 years ago. When I was first starting out. Hello Creative Memories! This is so boring and I love me some CM, mostly the albums and papers. Glad that I've learned a few great things since these days. Sad isn't it! Oh well that is why I like FF it allows me to look back and giggle at what I used to do as a scrapbooker.

Another sad thing, other then my 2 sisters in the photos, I don't get to see these other people at all. Lost touch or I get to do lunch or talk on fb once in a great while. As ugly as this LO is I am happy to have the moments w/ these friends scrapped. Great memories!

Well I do have a busy weekend ahead and wanted to make sure FF was posted and I probably won't get to post again until MM.

Have a super great day!

Good Day!

Good Morning! Everyone, I woke up early and decided to get in on a challenge first thing. Here is my take on SPCC #61. I love their color choices, always good stuff.

So hope you all have a creative day, happy to have gotten one done, and now I must get ready for work. Maybe I'll create more later after dinner! See ya around!

Movie Mondays (MM)

So here it is the 2nd Movie Monday (MM) for me to post. This week I chose the movie "The Great Outdoors". Where John Candy and Dan Akryod made being outdoors a funny mishap, one right after another. I don't see it that way when we go. Usually I'm just miserable, this time though it was just my little family of 3. I love when its just us. We camp the way we like w/out others telling us what to do or someone not helping out.

This particular trip we did rustic at a campground called Ruby. Last minute trip for the 4the of July weekend. Just about a 1 1/2 hours north of us near Port Huron. It was great it was the perfect spot. The site we had was called the "The Crossing" very secluded and away from the regular campers that are practically on top of each other. I think this is our new favorite spot. Even though we had no electricity or water, it was nice because there were still bathrooms and showers available at the front of the camp.

Did you miss last weeks post where I launched MM? Well I am creating a scrapbook album and every page will have a movie title. Got the idea from a page challenge that had to have a movie title.

Next weeks movie will be a John Travolta movie, can you guess, leave a comment what you think it will be.

I created a card over the week too for my good friends Liz & Kyle they are getting married in October and I used their wedding colors. I really like this card, and thought about making more of the same card, just different color schemes for other upcoming weddings.

My spot right in the mix of things!

This makes me laugh, my poor little ole kitchen has gotten smaller. I've needed a dedicated spot to scrapbook but haven't the room. I live in a small 2 bedroom home and space is not easy to come by. We hope to buy a home soon and I figured until then I needed a crafty corner. That's exactly what I got, a corner. Take a look, I've worked on it all morning and afternoon:

I couldn't believe I was able to fit 3 things into that small space. Of course the kitchen table is no longer centered with the window. That's alright with me, at least we can sit at the kitchen table again to eat. We have been eating in the living room for a while because its too hard to put all the scrapping stuff away. So now I don't have to put things away it has a spot. So now it's time to do some creating, in my spot; right in the mix of things. Here is another shot of the new craft corner.

Flashback Fridays

Welcome to Flashback Fridays!
On Fridays I will be posting some of my scrap layouts from back in the day, even posting things prior to blogging, which started in January of this year. I started scrapbooking about 6-7 years ago. It started at a Creative Memories Get Together. Things have changed and I laugh at some of the pages that I've done, and some I like. I tend to be simple, but sometimes I get a little wild at times. I do like this page and all of its simplicity, mostly my son's smile is the perfect embellishment. Maybe you were thinking back in the day 15 years or more ago, mostly its a day to share my changes throughout the years of scrapping. Just something fun to do on my blog, or at least I think its fun....lol !
Check back next week for more Movie Mondays (MM) and Flashback Fridays (FF). Hope you have a great day, I will its lookin' like a fabby scrap weekend for me. Well I am off to take a shower and then make a quick breakfast for my new challenge, losing weight. Weight Watchers meeting last night to kickstart it.

What's the Scrapper's forecast look like?

Fridays Forecast: Slight chance of scrap, 30% chance
Saturdays Forecast: Clear and scrappy, 100% chance
Sundays Forecast: Partly scrap, 50% chance

So I'm going to get alot of scrappin' in this weekend. I am going to email my sis to have her bring the Cricut when I meet up with her tonight. I want to punch something right now, work is a bit odd these past couple of weeks, and I'm just tired of it. It'll get better I'm sure. I'm just frustrated and usually work isn't that for me (a frustration), but I've been snappin' at people, and I feel bad. So I guess I'll scrap that always makes me feel better! Also finding that dang camera is a must tonight so that I can post my new stuff that I do over the weekend. ttyl

FYI: I'm always starting Weight Watchers tonight!

Like sands through the hourglass.....

Morning, its alittle after 630am and i'm checkin' out the blogs that I follow. Some good stuff this morning. I'm also watching Days of Our Lives, one of my latest returning obsessions. I grew up watching Days and one of my earliest memories at around the age of 7 or 8, Bo & Hope got married and sailed away on the Fancy Face. lol
My mom has watched it since the day it came on many moons ago. She stopped here and there especially when Marlena was possessed, that was humorous. I haven't been able to watch in like 8 years and well I finally got DVR and I can enjoy it all over again. However instead of Bo & Hope sailing away in the Fancy Face, Bo is booking Hope and gettin' her fingerprints because she tried to kill him twice. Oh this is good stuff!

So I posted over this past weekend that my camera was MIA! Still MIA! It's killin' me not having it around to take a few snapshots when I need to. Especially when Friday is fast approaching and we have some fun plans for this weekend and a camera is necessary plus I'll be starting a new blog post; Flashback Fridays! So I either need to buy, borrow or find my camera.

Back to catchin' up on the blogs that I follow, someone posted their creations on the Cricut, cute little dragonflys. Got me thinking, my sister and I bought a Cricut on Craigslist about a year ago. It came with a nice case, and 3 cartridges for $100 it was used once, when she tried it out for the first time. Decided it wasn't for her and it collected dust, so she finally decided to sell and we were lucky to see her post to craigslist. So in a year how many times have I used the Cricut? I've used it twice! It is at my sisters and I forget about it. I'm not even really sure how to use it that well, I haven't gotten to experiment w/ it. We are going on a weekender in October so I'll get some use then. Maybe I should get it so I work with it before we go. I guess since I've never really used it I don't think about it, but since blogging I've come across so many scrap blogs where people post about their creations and I want to use now.

Well I need to go get breakfast, shower, get the boy up and ready to go. Talk to you all very soon!

Launching Movie Monday

Hey there scrappers and movie lovers, I thought alot this past weekend how to make my blog fun and give me something more to work with. Plus I figure if I have some set scheduled post to blog about then it will help keep me up to date with scrapping.

I did a challenge a couple of weeks ago where you had to create a page using a name of a movie as title on the layout. Cute idea! So while creating my page I thought it would be a neat idea to create a movie album. Each LO will have a movie title, maybe quotes from that movie and such.

I am going to use the Star Wars page that I created for that challenge a couple weeks ago. My son is 5 and somewhat addicted to Star Wars. He is named after George Lucas. lol Lucas not George! His dad is a big fan, Lucas by far exceeds his dad's knowledge. I'm serious.

So here is the launch of Movie Mondays. I think this will a really cool album, I use the staple bound albums and this can practically go on forever. I believe I'm really going to enjoy this project.

I keep thinking of movie names that I can use in the future:
A League of Their Own
Now & Then
Something to Talk About
Father of the Bride

Well you get the picture. Have a great day!

Trying out new stuff for my blog

Good afternoon, just fooling around this morning, creating stuff on the computer. I wanted a name tag for the end of my post. Came up with this one. I love to use my photos that I've taken for my banner and now my name tag. I'm definetely not a photographer but to be honest I like my point of view thru the lens. I use just a simple digital camera (which is misplaced at the moment). I have an awesome Minolta 35mm camera that hasn't been used in quite some time, I need to take it into a camera shop. Well gotta go find my digital and really just wanted to see what my nametag looked like.

Babbling Brook

Well its just after midnight here in Michigan. I had a busy day, I woke very early got right to it. Left the house to get a small amount of shopping done for my friends bridal shower. Got her gift, easy in and out. Went to a craft store that I'm not to fond of, but thought its been 6 months since my first visit there, let's see if things have improved. I like what their scrapbook selection is, quite huge actually but they are just weird. I'd rather not say the name of the store, they don't deserve any bit of advertising. It's just a strange store, w/ they're non computer ways, they're even closed on Sunday's, good grief. So then I'm off to visit with my mom for awhile and do some stuff for her church. I do all the signage for her church, certificates too occasionally. She asked the other day if I could do calligraphy on a baptisism certificate. Sure, I forgot that I have the skill. I don't do it very often, couldn't even tell you where my ink and nibs are. So I bought one of those quick marker type calligrapher pens. Yea, not so much. So I went off to a very good craft store Joann's, I don't mind being an advertiser for them, because they are wonderful :O) So I got a better set of the markers there and it was better, but still love the old school way of writing w/ dipping the ink. I took calligraphy in high school and my teacher had ran into my mom at the office and she told my mom that it wasn't too often that a student was better at calligraphy then her, the teacher. That made my day when my mom told me that. I haven't done it in years, and liked doing it again. When you don't do something for awhile it usually always comes right back.

Finished that for her, went to the bridal shower, and I was very impressed and very happy for my friends. They have been together 8 years as my man and I have been as well. Maybe our day is coming soon. Only God knows.

After the shower I called my brother and visited him for an hour, had some good talk. The shower at the Masonic Temple just off the road near my brothers house so I thought I'd call, and it was nice he was home alone. We don't see each other often. We shared some business ideas, and he made it seem like it was very possible for me to get started and that it will take time but it can happen. I love encouragement! Who doesn't?

I came home spent some time w/ the boy and putzed around on blogger and fb. For whatever reason there are lots of giveaways today. Love that, you should check out my 3 previous post, they have links to those blog giveaways.

Anyways, I'm feeling quite chatty right now. The boy is asleep, man is out w/ an old roommate and I'm wide awake. So last weekend I had entered a challenge and you had to take a movie prior to '85 and make a layout. That was fun, and I did a LO on Star Wars. It gave me the idea to create an album geared around movie titles. We all have that random photo we don't use or a grouping of photo's your just not sure what to do with. Or I like to have an album for only certain types of themes. ie.\School album, Love album, My family album, friend albums, etc. So I thought you don't know sometimes where to fit those photos. My thought was it would be cool to have an album and take a title and find a photo that matches the title. I have a bunch of empty albums and this theme just seems to be fun.

Another thing I like reading blogs that have creative post and consistancy. Here are some ideas I came up with:

1st/LoveLeigh Polls, this started last month. These will last the whole month and it will be polls on scrapbooking. Check it out at the top of the sidebar.
2nd/Movie Mondays, I will post a new layout w/ a movie name as my title for LO.
3rd/Flashback Fridays, a posting of old LO's will go up. I often look at my scrapbooks and think wow, my style has changed so much. It changes often as I learn new techniques.

I figure thats a good start and a bit of fun! Hopefully I can keep up w/ the postings. Well I've babbled long enough and think that I will lay in bed and watch hopefully something good and entertaining on TV.

After reading this make sure to take the August LoveLeigh Poll. Have a great day, and keep being creative!

Blogging for ________!

Fill in the blank.......
Why do you blog? I blog because its simply fun. What got me started on blogging was a book I found at a local bookstore. It is Blogging for Bliss by Tara Frey, you should check it out. I had no clue about blogging and what was involved. Its a book really about blogging your craft and how to do it from creating banners, to learning a bit about html, gives you snippets from other blog sites and it gives you the tools to not feel silly about blogging. I read this book back in January learned from it some, and lent this book to my sister. Got it back yesterday and re-read some areas and because I've gotten used to the whole blog thing and its gadgets yada yada. I understand more now on what she's suggesting. It has been fun blogging about scrapbooking and occasionally just chattin' it up. My following is small but thats cool you gotta start small and eventually maybe you'll have a bigger following someday. Right now though I'm good w/ what I got, I enjoy the blog world and all that it has to offer. Insight to another's scrap technique or even reading about a bitchin' wife, or someone's photographic point of view is something I look forward to now at the beginning and end of my day.

Have a great day fellow bloggers!

AuniLeigh's Top 5 Scrapbooking Items

This early evening I sit at home bored really. I should be cleaning the house or thinking about alittle din din for the fam, but I'm entirely to tired to do that. I will however need to do some laundry for sure. I have enjoyed my 5 days off of work, and tomorrow will be coming soon enough. This last day of vacation has been a completely lazy day. A nap, some Wii w/ the boy, we met dad for some mexican food at Angelina's at lunch and watched some TV. I checked out some blogs and thought about my blog. As I've said before I don't write or even think that I can, but I love blogging. Anyways, I was thinking of what to post today and I thought talking about some of my favorite items as a scrapper. Loving a papercraft hobby, of course I love all the brilliant colors that the papers come in. I do use designed papers but tend to lean more toward the solid colors. So here are my Top 5 necessary scrapbooking items, I may not use everytime I scrap a LO or make a card but there still my favs:

#5, color wheels are nice it helps you go outside your normal color combos, that is why I like the color challenge blogs too.

#4, brads & eyelets are just fun, I heart my Crop-a-dile! Looks like I need to refill and soon.

#3, ribbon I believe is probably every papercrafters favorite, you just can't go wrong w/ ribbon.

#2, CLEARANCE items, need I say more :O)

#1, that's my boy, w/out him as my subject I wouldn't scrapbook like I do.

So I will finally start dinner then a small amount of cleaning. I did grab the Fall issue of Michigan Scrapbooker today, good stuff and great giveaway in one of articles. You can pick up a copy at most Michigan scrapbook stores, its free.

I made it through another canoe trip!

Well I survived yet another canoe trip. Look I don't really like it the camping, the canoeing is sort of fun. This year was by far better then last year. The others that went w/ us was a better crowd. Not showering, nothing other then the woods for a bathroom break, is so not cool. I am glad to be home and below you can see the photos that I will enjoy scrapping at some point. That makes the trip worth it I guess.

A bit of fishing once we set up camp
Sittin' around the campfire is my favorite part
My man so happy to be out in nature
Coming to the end of our trip
