Color Throwdown #108

Good Morning all, I had great day yesterday and loved being off with my little man. Yesterday couldn't have gotten better. So I did wake early this morning and decided to do a color challenge over at Color Throwdown. My So Saffron color is a bit off, but I can't seem to match the colors perfectly unless it calls for white or black. lol
I'm getting back into calligraphy again, and it isn't like it used to be. I'm going to have to get my ink and nibs out to get the real feel for it. Right now I'm just using the calligraphy markers and it doesn't have the same result at all. Either way I'm glad I'm ahead of the game and not making a card at the very last moment.
Take care everyone, and check out the new LoveLeigh Poll listed on the sidebar.

Cricut Challenge Blog

I had posted this layout last night, but would you believe I was dreaming about scrapbooking last night and thought of a picture to add. Very simple fix and a neccessary one at that. I just found a blog the other day and it has Cricut challenges. Check out Fantabulous Cricut, they require that you use something done on your page using the Cricut and they do give a theme. Well I originally had the interstate sign w/ a word in it. I remembered in my dream that I took a picture of Jeep in front (my man's) of us. We drove both cars and our son thought it would be cool to take a photo of dad ahead of us. So I put that pic in the interstate sign to really make sure I was meeting challenge theme, which is a road trip.

So now that I feel I've met the challenge completely I can re-post and get my day started. I used the Summer Vacation cartridge. Wal-mart had it available for like $15 or $20 at the beginning of summer. I've wondered if it was a Wal-mart exclusive, not sure. Do you know?

Well I must get off here and get ready for super busy day. It is a paid day off for me so I'm going to get busy and get home and maybe scrap some more. Be crafty, hugs for all!

And a sidenote August's LoveLeigh Poll is up and the question was "What type of Scrapper are you?" Well the results showed 66% stick with traditional scrapbooking.

Babbling Brook

Well its just after midnight here in Michigan. I had a busy day, I woke very early got right to it. Left the house to get a small amount of shopping done for my friends bridal shower. Got her gift, easy in and out. Went to a craft store that I'm not to fond of, but thought its been 6 months since my first visit there, let's see if things have improved. I like what their scrapbook selection is, quite huge actually but they are just weird. I'd rather not say the name of the store, they don't deserve any bit of advertising. It's just a strange store, w/ they're non computer ways, they're even closed on Sunday's, good grief. So then I'm off to visit with my mom for awhile and do some stuff for her church. I do all the signage for her church, certificates too occasionally. She asked the other day if I could do calligraphy on a baptisism certificate. Sure, I forgot that I have the skill. I don't do it very often, couldn't even tell you where my ink and nibs are. So I bought one of those quick marker type calligrapher pens. Yea, not so much. So I went off to a very good craft store Joann's, I don't mind being an advertiser for them, because they are wonderful :O) So I got a better set of the markers there and it was better, but still love the old school way of writing w/ dipping the ink. I took calligraphy in high school and my teacher had ran into my mom at the office and she told my mom that it wasn't too often that a student was better at calligraphy then her, the teacher. That made my day when my mom told me that. I haven't done it in years, and liked doing it again. When you don't do something for awhile it usually always comes right back.

Finished that for her, went to the bridal shower, and I was very impressed and very happy for my friends. They have been together 8 years as my man and I have been as well. Maybe our day is coming soon. Only God knows.

After the shower I called my brother and visited him for an hour, had some good talk. The shower at the Masonic Temple just off the road near my brothers house so I thought I'd call, and it was nice he was home alone. We don't see each other often. We shared some business ideas, and he made it seem like it was very possible for me to get started and that it will take time but it can happen. I love encouragement! Who doesn't?

I came home spent some time w/ the boy and putzed around on blogger and fb. For whatever reason there are lots of giveaways today. Love that, you should check out my 3 previous post, they have links to those blog giveaways.

Anyways, I'm feeling quite chatty right now. The boy is asleep, man is out w/ an old roommate and I'm wide awake. So last weekend I had entered a challenge and you had to take a movie prior to '85 and make a layout. That was fun, and I did a LO on Star Wars. It gave me the idea to create an album geared around movie titles. We all have that random photo we don't use or a grouping of photo's your just not sure what to do with. Or I like to have an album for only certain types of themes. ie.\School album, Love album, My family album, friend albums, etc. So I thought you don't know sometimes where to fit those photos. My thought was it would be cool to have an album and take a title and find a photo that matches the title. I have a bunch of empty albums and this theme just seems to be fun.

Another thing I like reading blogs that have creative post and consistancy. Here are some ideas I came up with:

1st/LoveLeigh Polls, this started last month. These will last the whole month and it will be polls on scrapbooking. Check it out at the top of the sidebar.
2nd/Movie Mondays, I will post a new layout w/ a movie name as my title for LO.
3rd/Flashback Fridays, a posting of old LO's will go up. I often look at my scrapbooks and think wow, my style has changed so much. It changes often as I learn new techniques.

I figure thats a good start and a bit of fun! Hopefully I can keep up w/ the postings. Well I've babbled long enough and think that I will lay in bed and watch hopefully something good and entertaining on TV.

After reading this make sure to take the August LoveLeigh Poll. Have a great day, and keep being creative!

Canoe or not to canoe?

Hi everyone, its time to get my day started and should have gotten up and at'em already. I have been so tired all week. I noticed I usually write on my blog in the mornings. It is my only time that is actually for me. I love silence! The man has already left for work an hour ago and the boy sleeps for at least another hour. I can think in the mornings. Your all the same too, your men and kids are probably constantly pulling you in every direction.

This week has been a crazy busy kind of week. I had 2 Jeeps that didn't run and I sold both for $500, good grief. I spoke to my brother-in-law and I'll be buying my neices car from her in 2 weeks. Work yesterday had a very unfortunate ending, not really worth talking about I guess. Let's just say I have a job that I don't come home worrying about what was left undone, or needs to be done by this day yada, yada. Things are going to change and I'm going to make it a positive thing somehow and not bring it home w/ me. Going on a 3 day canoe trip w/ my man and 2 other couples. I think this is very unfortunate as well. I like the canoe trip but the camping that comes w/ it stinks. No electricity/water or bathrooms! I do however like to scrapbook it. I did the trip last year, and thought that last trip was the last, but my man loved that I went and now I'm going again. Errrrr! I should post some pics of album that I did last year for this trip.
1 more day to vote on July's LoveLeigh Poll....... Have a great day!

Vintage Movie LO

So as I said earlier today and earlier in the week, I've been searching for new blogs to follow to get more challenges. I found Design Dollies and their challenge is to take a vintage movie and create something from that, it must be something before 1985. My first choice was "Barefoot in the Park", I heart Robert Redford in that movie. Then would you believe I couldn't find not one photo of my son barefoot in the park, he's barefoot camping, at the beach, in the front yard, but not the park. So then I thought well maybe someone else could have been shoeless, yea not so much. I will make that page happen at some point. lol
So then I racked my brain for all of 20 minutes and thought well duh, my boy loves Star Wars. He was a Clone Trooper for Halloween how about do a page on that. That shows how behind I am with scrapbooking. I don't even have Halloween done. So here is my page in a galaxy far, far away.......k

So then this challenge got me thinking, about a future album that I may do. How about a movie themed album. You know how you have a random photo or too many pictures from a certain place or occasion and they don't get scrapped. That drives me crazy having a bunch of random not used photos. I think I may truly make an album where each page has a movie title. I can do that Barefoot in the Park eventually, A League of Their Own, Cocktail, Castaway, Planes Trains & Automobiles, haha just to name a few. I'm liking this idea more and more. The titles are endless. Yay for new ideas!

BTW: only 5 more days to answer the LoveLeigh Poll of the Month. It's at the top right

Each month I'm going to have a new poll about scrapbooking, that you'll be able to find on the sidebar. I don't have a big following but thats ok, just gives me something fun to do. I'm back to blogging again sort of took a moment away because well life calls and it gets busy at times.
